Tantalum Alloy Rod and Bar
Tantalum and tantalum alloy rods and bars are made from tantalum ingots, valued in the chemical and oil industries for their corrosion resistance. Spreadon’s tantalum rod is worked cold from ingot down to final diameter, using forging, rolling, swaging and drawing — singly or in combination — to reach the desired size. Tantalum rod and bar are mainly used in high-temperature alloys containing tantalum, and as tantalum-based heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant alloy additives.
Typical Uses
- Cost-effective substitute for platinum in suitable applications
- Manufacturing superalloys and electron-beam melting (high-temperature Ta-W and Ta-Nb alloys, corrosion-resistant alloy additives)
- Corrosion-resistant equipment for the chemical and oil industries
